Fare Vai Moana -The best thing about this little hotel is its charming French restaurant and bar, housed in a beachside building with a natural thatched roof. Otherwise, it's in the center of a busy, crowded neighborhood, which can give it a Grand Central Terminal ambience, especially during mealtimes. On the other hand, more restaurants and a multitude of shops are short walks away (689) 56.17.14
Hotel Restaurant Les Tipaniers (689) 56.12.67
Kaveka -all-bungalow hotel sits behind a rock wall along the road, but its other side opens to Cook's Bay. Noted for its fish burgers, the hotel's overwater Kaveka Restaurant enjoys a view rivaled only by Snack l'Ananas Bleu (Blue Pineapple) at the Club Bali Hai. (689) 56.50.50
La Licorne D'Or (689) 56.35.19
La Petite Maison Chez Michele -La Petite Maison Restaurant (top of the bay) Extremely small and tables are outside, right on the bay, overlooking the water. Best paella and creme brulee ever. Fresh morning French pastries – to die for! Local beaches and the temple on the mountain. (689) 56.34.80
La Plantation -Dine on French and Cajun food while listening to a jazz or soul band at this restaurant near Le Petit Village. A favorite dish is slipper lobster (a small relative of the crayfish) served with a vanilla sauce. Crab cakes and Cajun gazpacho spice things up. The decor of all white is plantation style with white cane chairs and tables. The best deals are the two set menus—the discovery (4,500 CFP) and the Cajun (5,100 CFP). There are regular party nights with a DJ and dancing into the late hours (689) 56.45.10
L'Ananas Bleu -Breakfast and lunch at "the Blue Pineapple," within the three-star time-share Bali Hai Club, is popular with guests and visitors. The views over Cook's Bay are superb and breakfast treats such as Tahitian donuts (on weekends) and crêpes are legendary. Lunchtime offerings include steak with fries, salads, hamburgers, and poisson cru. On Wednesday nights the restaurant puts on a lavish seafood barbecue (dishes from 1,800 to 3,890 CFP) and a dance performance beginning at 6 pm (689) 56.12.06
